The Way of Creation

a letter to a friend

Adam Sokolik

I.
Calling

All I want is to create.
Feel the rhythm resonate
A hidden door becomes the gate
Plant the seed and shape its fate

A figure walking toward a glowing doorway at dusk
II.
Seed

Sleeping world lives in each seed
The smallest spark is all we need
Give it space, not force or speed
Sacred care becomes its creed

A golden cracked egg glowing on dark earth, holding a small forest and river inside, with a star rising above
III.
Sacred Space

Enter where the spirit glows
A sacred current in us flows
Give it form and watch it grow
Take the step and watch the show

A woman walking through a glowing stone tunnel, cradling a small leaf of light in her hands
IV.
First Step

No distant ending in the known
Take a step and let it flow
Path appears beneath us slow
The hand will show you where to go

A figure walking a stone path through fog toward a glowing archway
V.
Hands

Dream must travel through the hand
Along crooked lines, it learns to stand
Spirit enters wood and sand
As though the mirror had it planned

Close-up of weathered hands shaping a block of wood that glows with light from within
VI.
Mirror

Shape the work; it shapes the view
Behind the face, a trace comes through
What lived in me may live in you
One private vein now connects two

An old man carving a small figure beside a still pool, where a woman's reflection looks back up at him
VII.
Wound

Broken place still carries pain
Hold it gently in the rain
The wound gives light where marks remain
Together in one living vein

A woman kneeling in the rain, hands pressed to a cracked stone that glows with light along the break
VIII.
Together

No living world is made alone
Many hearts can build one home
One brings the fire, one brings the stone
In love there is a perfect tone

A family building a stone wall together at dusk, firelight glowing between the stones
IX.
Perfection

Leave some wonder at the core
Perfection closes every door
Mystery asks for something more
Returning light into the world

A man standing before an ornate archway, looking out at a sunlit path beyond
X.
Release

Work must leave the careful hold
Its hidden meanings will unfold
Let every unseen truth be told
Released work can still explore

A woman at an open window releasing a glowing ornate vessel that dissolves into light over a river valley
XI.
Return

The road bends home beneath the sun
Not the same place where we begun
Bring the light back, one by one
Return it free into the world

A line of lantern-carrying figures walking home along an ivy-covered wall at dusk
XII.
The Way

We do not own the source of faith
Protect the flame and contemplate
Let it pass beyond our gate
The way for me is to create.

A figure at an open ivy-covered gate holding a small flame, looking out over a path of scattered lights leading into the hills
